Glenlivet 15 Year Old Single Malt Whisky 750ml
- WHY: Glenlivet 15 year is a richer, more sweetly-spiced version expression of the classic Highland single malt that offers supreme richness and texture for a price that is almost impossible to beat.
- HOW: Glenlivet 15 year, like a Cognac, is matured in French Limousin oak, imparting a complex flavor profile of baking spices and toasted almonds that are the direct result of the oak type. Most single malts are matured in American oak, or European oak that has previously held Sherry, so the use of new French Limousin oak stands out from other selections.
- WHAT: Originally founded in 1824, Glenlivet was purchased by Pernod-Ricard from Seagram’s in 2001, as part of a deal for Chivas Brothers and all of the distilleries associated with the blended whisky. It sits in the Speyside region of Scotland and is currently the country’s largest single malt distillery. Despite its growing size, the distillery’s fourteen pairs of pot stills are continuously churning out some of the most consistent and tasty malt whisky in the world. That scale allows Glenlivet to offer more competitive pricing for such a high quality product. Bottled at 40% ABV, the Glenlivet 15 has a creamy, buttery finish.
